Dr. Summerlyn Thompson, Principal
Dr. Summerlyn Thompson holds undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Virginia, along with a doctorate from Virginia Tech. Previously the principal of Johnson Elementary and Walker Upper Elementary, she became principal of Charlottesville Middle School in 2026.
Dr. Kathleen Gentry, Assistant Principal
Dr. Kathleen Gentry holds two doctoral degrees, one from George Mason and the other from Liberty University, along with an administration/supervision certification from University of New England, and a division superintendent license.
Brad Taylor,
Assistant Principal
Brad Taylor graduated from SUNY Cortland and earned his M.Ed. from the University of Virginia. Prior to joining the staff at Charlottesville Middle School, Taylor worked at Walker Upper Elementary School, first as teacher and reading specialist, and then as an assistant principal beginning in 2009.
Kim Thompson,
Assistant Principal
Kim Page Thompson has served as Assistant Principal of Charlottesville Middle School since 2022. She supports a strong academic and social environment for middle school students and prepares them for a successful transition to high school. Previously she was a math teacher for 18 years at Charlottesville High School, where she additionally prepared first-generation students for college. She received a B.S. in Professional Mathematics from North Carolina A&T State University, a M.T. in Teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix.
Matt Resnick,
Assistant Principal
Matt Resnick graduated from the University of Virginia and earned his M.Ed. from University of Mary Washington. He has worked in CCS since 2018, previously as a Civics and U.S. History teacher at Buford Middle School and the Dean of Students at Walker Upper Elementary School.
