October 25, 2026

Helloooooooo, awesome CMS families!!

We are heading into another full week FULL of learning and fun!!  We are super-psyched to have our first Spirit Week this week (details below)!!  I wanted to call special attention to the fact that while students are welcome to wear a Halloween costume to school on Friday, they may not bring/wear fake weapons of any kind to school as part of their costume.  We are excited to see the kids all dressed up!!

We had over 40 8th graders join the CHS Marching Knights at last week's 8th Grade Band Night!!

Our young ladies beat the CVHAA Patrios in two sets last week!!

Our 6th graders explored the watershed at Chris Greene Lake AND went canoeing!!  Many thanks to the Innovation Hub for their financial sponsorship of this opportunity.  We are hoping that this will be a yearly learning experience for all 6th graders!!

Our young thespians traveled to Norfolk last week to perform at the Virginia Theater Association conference!!

To review for their end of novel test, 6th graders competed in the Ghost Games!!  They played Who Said It?, a competition that required them to analyze quotes that contributed to character development and theme.  They also played a game of charades in which they acted out important events in the plot.

13.  School construction is on the ballot (repeat) - This fall, the City of Charlottesville will vote on a 1% local sales tax to fund school construction.
